I have just put in a few applications for permits to acquire (in Oz, we have to wait for 30 days to get permits even though we already have similar guns) so even thought I paid for them, I wont get them for another month Rolling Eyes

I am getting a second hand Glock 34 (9mm) for IPSC with 13 magazines Very Happy and a couple of new Ruger Wranglers (22lr single-action revolvers) for western action comps Very Happy

With the Glock, I also get another Dillon Square Deal for 9mm, I already have a 38/357 setup but I guess it is good to have another set while I am splurging.
I might even get or make a pair of quickdraw holsters for the rugers Very Happy

First time to buy handguns again after about 5 years.

Sounds like you scored a deal mate. The 9mm is only minor calibre in IPSC…I can sense a heap of practice in you near future to make up for that mate…all A Zone hits coming up.

Why a .22 for Western Action mate? I would have thought a larger calibre like a .45 LC or a 44.40 would be the way to go in order to replicate historic real time scenarios.

LOL, first of all, they are (and I am) "cheap", scored a deal for two brand new guns for $700 all up including GST. Cannot refuse the deal Very Happy
Besides, they do not care what caliber I would be using, and 22LR are cheap to shoot.

Try to load the 124 grain bullet instead of the 147s. You will find that there isn't as much muzzle climb and they are easier on the hand. I have several hundreds of 147 duty ammo and I buy the 124s for reloading. I have to aim a consistent 18-19 inch below the intended spot with the 147s because of climb. It was either that or get a new front sight that was higher.

Back in the day when I was pistol shooting, I used to cast a 9mm 124gr Conical that I used in my S&W Model 586 for Service Pistol. Those bullets shot some of the best scores and groups I ever shot.
