Ive given that look.
Being chased by a short scottish women who was brought up in the slums of Glasgow with the removable electric cord from the kettle. That bugger hurt.
One became very quick or very cunning to "survive" ,the fear factory dropped when i had a younger brother to deflect the blame too.

I suffered the same issues Pete. Mum had a nail in the picture rail just above where she sat and within arm’s reach, and on that nail hung the meanest, hardest piece of old belt leather...boy did that thing hurt. And if she couldn’t get to it, there was usually a electric cord nearby.

Wooden spoon, carpet beater, cane, wide leather belt many times.

If Mum came at me with the wooden spoon, I would laugh, but if my Nan had that same spoon I was afeared, she put her shoulder into it.
