Folks,
I was visiting my favorite gun shop and intended to look at a few WWII Enfields and Russian 91/30s that came in recently. In addition, I always look at very gun on the racks and stumbled onto a Remington 1917 Enfield sporter with a deluxe stock and recoil pad. The rifle was rechambered into .300 Win. Mag., was drilled and tapped wth Weaver bases and rings and had a Baush & Lomb scope and a Timney trigger. The hang tag was $200.00, but I got it for $150.00. Someone did a lot of costly work on this rifle. Never had a .300 Win.Mag., bit I do now. Maybe I will load up some thumper rounds and have my brother sight it in. All the best...
Gil

GilMartin,
If you have a brother in law, they work better for experimenting with new loads.:)

Folks,
I managed to sight in this military sporter in .300 Winchester Magnum today. What a rifle! When I touched off the first round, other shooters on the line stopped firing to see what was making so much noise. It grouped very well with a 24-inch barrel and this is clearly not a casual plinking rifle. All the best...

if a person spends alittle time and looks now is the perfect time to buy milsurps.

with all the new imports that people have bought and then decided they didnt want or dont understand hitting the pawn/gun shops there are more old firearms really worth having for sale very cheap.

in my smallish town of 4000 in the last year ive bought 3 enfields and a eddystone out of 2 shops alone. in the last 36 years ive only seen 2 enfields for sale and they both were sported and sported badly.

look around and pick up one for 200 dollars at the most and as little as 60 dollars. most in fair to good shape with alot being in great shape.

they were made to last in very rugged conditions and most will shoot great groupings. maybe not MOA but very very acceptable for hunting.

a great way to get that extra hunting gun for loaning to friends you dont want handling your expensive target rifles. also great for kids to learn with.

Magnum rifles will get there attention real fast when on the range with a bunch of folks practising with there BR50 rimfires. My 375 H&H really grabbed there attention.
