Said better than I could.

From Terry Michael Hestilow

Remembering Pearl Harbor and the words " ... we highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain." Certainly the generation that fought and saved the world from totalitarian tyranny between 1941 and 1945 were resolved that those who died at the hands of our enemies would not have died in vain--but what about the following generations?

Did those thousands who died at home in the enemy attacks on 9-11-2001, and those thousands who died fighting the enemy in Afghanistan and Iraq die in vain since we have foreclosed victory and justice and the security of a free and safe world that is not under constant threat from Islam? Did those who have died for our nation in Korea, Vietnam, Somalia and other places where American boots have landed, die in vain?

As we reflect on the morrow, December 7th, let us ask ourselves if we have not forgotten those who have died for our freedoms since 1775 up to and including today? Let us ask ourselves if it is not true that if this current generation throws away America, her history, her values, her traditions, that we have indeed forgotten our responsibility to those who died so we can live free and have we not lost our resolve to be free? And if that is true, then is it not also true that every drop of American blood shed for freedom was lost in vain.

Who have we become, America? Have we not become a nation of cowardly monsters who hold in contempt every blessing purchased with the blood of our knights of liberty? Who are we now? Who are we today?

Remembering Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941 ... and a whole lot more."

I've always thought of the lives that were lost fighting communism around the world, only to now have the people of this country electing communists to our Presidency. Dire times await America and we will surely pay the price for our lack of steadfastness.

I was talking to my wife about this today, it would be a sad day there for the ceremony. There are a couple vets being interned there today. Its a rather rare occurrence.

I am happy I got to visit Pearl earlier this year, proudly wearing my BB39 hat and shirt today.

Rest In Peace all those sailors, soldiers, airmen and civilians who perished during the sneak attack on Pearl Harbour by the Imperial Japanese Navy.

Lest We Forget
Salute Salute Salute Salute

One day I would love to visit Pearl and pay my respects at the various memorials, especially the Arizona.

Yes mate. My shooting buddy and his wife went a couple of years back and he said the Arizona Memorial is something to behold and very sobering because the Arizona is there right under your feet.

I have pictures looking across the harbor at the memorial the morning we got there. It was cloudy and windy, just looked generally unpleasant. We toured through all the exhibits and watched the movie awaiting our ticket time to ride the boat to the USS Arizona. Sometime during the short movie before the boat ride, the clouds disappeared. As we rode across the harbor the wind stopped and the water turned smooth.

People were solemn as they entered the memorial. I got some very special pictures there. My favorite is someone scattered flowers on the smooth water which I got a picture of just as oil was bubbling up to the surface. The weather was just perfect at that moment, not even a hint of wind. It was rather remarkable and memorable.
