Seems I've gotten behind. Of course I guess they really aren't mine. My two girls are in their 20s and I wanted each to have their own handgun. This summer I picked up one for each of them. My oldest gets the Ruger SR9C. She's done some shooting and really likes my SR9. The youngest gets the Ruger SP101. She has done less shooting so I think the revolver would be easier for her to use. The SP101 is chambered for the .32 H&R Magnum, giving her six shots. Some folks may question the .32 H&R but a 100 grain JHP at 1000+ ft/sec is no joke and the recoil and muzzle blast are not excessive.

Maybe now I can get my SR9 back from my daughter, who "borrowed" it a couple of years ago.

Nice combo! That 100 is a good shooter and bombproof.

Please explain that selector thingy? I think I have more Baikals than I can carry, but I don't understand what you mean there.

but how to go from eject to extract??? Please enlighten me Sir.

Here's a pic of the "thingy", pardon the lint. It's pulled into it's slot as the action is open. Once the action it closed it's clearly visible and intutive to reach, slide back and disconnects the ejector spring after firing/before opening.

Baikals are amazing values and I'd buy one new or used w/o any hesitation. The one pic'd here was a 12g, other is a 20g, both shot dead nuts on the money.

And as stated prior- the O/U selector is a screw on the shoulder clearly visible wehn the action is eopn.

Thanks. I'm going to look at some, see that I can discover this also. Maybe it's only used in their export models for the States?
They are very strange things, a little heavy but always ready to kill something and as you point me again, they are full of surprises.
My friend is hunting with such O/U Baikal with 1 trigger for about 30 years and he's very good with it. About 2 years ago somebody learned him how he could shoot the upper barrel before the other, that push trigger thing. In all these years he never knew it. Sometimes the 'wrong' barrel went first, but he always tought it was a fault in the system.

never too old to learn new tricks Smile

by the way: did you put your "buck-danse for Suz" on U-tube?

If you go to the USSG site you can usually download the Owners Manuals that have the little tricks and features on those guns listed. Remington does too for their branded Baikals.

I dont do Utube!

Aloy the single baikals have an E on the end of the model number if the eject switch is there mine both are push out but not ping over shoulder models.
Very Happy new .30 cal brush on cleaning rod, break free CLP and cloth waiting with sissors to cut said cloth and 2 packets of reloadable ammo all waiting on table for the newbie to arrive.

well she arrived this morning and its too good to call "ugly Betty" like it was going to be!!! rifling is crisp and the blueing is still great. the stock has a few wee dings but that is all good. took her for a wander in the rain and didnt see any hares to ventilate but fired 3 rounds to make sure it went bang. first round off to the side so unscrewed rear sight and drifted it slightly tightened it back up again(with magazine lip no less) then fired again and hit the 3" screw in lid of the 44 gallon drum I was aiming at at 50 yrds so thats good enough for a wet day like this.

Sounds like you have yourself a shooter Elvis...that is certainly "Minute of Rabbit Head" at that range. A bit more playing will put things in a "good place" for ya mate.

yip Im happy with it, just wanted something for hunting in wet weather and the scrub that the kids can use without it knocking them around and not having to worry too much about it getting knocked around. it has scope bases but I intend to leave it bare and see how it goes.

Before the schmidt hit the fan I had started ordering parts to build an Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel. It was to be my first build, but with the craziness that has happened I have not seen a single part for my Grendel. As I surfed fot parts I came across some good buys, it looks like I will have an AR chambered in 5.56 before I see a single part for the Grendel. I have built a complete lower, I have the bolt carrier group with charging handle. My barrel just shipped, the only thing I am really waiting for is my upper receiver. It has been on order for three weeks and should ship around 4 to 5 weeks.

All this OT we've been working did allow me to make a purchase this weekend. I picked up another SP101, this time in .22 RF. I've been wanting a double action .22 for a long time. The S&Ws are nice but awfully expensive. The Ruger was more reasonable. The trigger is a bit heavy but I know how to fix that and already have some hammer springs laying around. Now I just wonder if I'll ever get a day off to go shoot it. Oh yeah, where can I find some ammo?
