this just sounds like a "magic" combo if the rifle is easy to carry.
rem model 7 with a 24" MAB barrel laminated Boyd stock, 8.5lb total with a 4.5-14 Leupold. Great rifle if I can geat the 100gn partitions anywhere near 3200fps I'll be happy, the Sierra's are a bit soft for that velocity.

Great velocity but I'll give RL22 the flick and try RL19 otherwise go back to ADI2209.

3200 with 100g Sierras that's awesome, sounds more like a 25-"06 then a 6mm. No wonder your getting a little resistance on the bolt. I bet the bullet performance would be devastating on sheep and the like.

Yup... long action performance in a short action....love it when that happens !!! Very Happy

Good to hear you got out shooting, I tried both RE19 & RE22 in my 6mm rem and stayed with RE19 with 45.2 grs of RE19 behind the 100gr nosler. It shoots inch groups at 150 yards and has a mv of 3000fps. I'm thinking RE22 is a little to slow burning for the 6mm and better suited for larger cases.

For the RE22 I made up 80 cases total with 40 of them loaded with CCI 200 primers and 40 with CCI 250 primers. For the RE19 also loaded up with 80 cases and split the difference with CCI 200 & 250 primers.

After 5-shot groups with each primer the overall winner in my gun was RE19 with CCI 200 with better accuracy and lower es (less than 18) across the chrony. I've been playing with RE19 since early summer in the 6mm rem and for my gun which is a M788 22" barrel the es is the lowest at 45.2grs.

Thanks Guys
chambered221, I was using Federal GM210 match primers. I've never tried magnum primers.
Ominivision1, I agree 22 is better in a larger case but it was an experience.
I’m using a mild 44.5 of ADI 2209 at the moment so 45.2 of RL19 sounds close.
I’m having trouble finding 6mm rem cases in Oz only Remington cases available, I’ve been told there brittle and I don’t think Winchester are as good as they once were. I like Lapua cases, If I can’t find any I’ll resize a few Lapua 25-06, 270 or 30-06 cases and try them?

I use an app on my phone called Shooter, do you guys use it? Shooter - Android Apps on Google Play its very good, I use it in conjunction with a range finder. I was culling Fallow on an over populated property last week, calm morning, 602yds held over 36” 6mm rem 100gn,he trotted about 25yds then rolled down the hill don’t know who got the biggest shock!

Thanks for your input guys
Bob

In my opinion you better don't start with -06 cases. The parent case of the 6 mm Rem is the 7x57 or 7 mm Mauser.
I've never seen Lapua cases for my 6 mm Rem, most I use is Federal.

But 7 mm Mauser is easier to get and I still have to try and reform cases for myself. Try to put it on my priority list as soon as I'll find time. Maybe someone else could give some extra tips on reforming 7 mm Mauser to 6 mm Rem, which should be easy to do.

And for you info: since a few years we have a caliber list in our shooting club and stupid enough the 6 mm Rem is not on it. If there comes no new list very soon, I just have to reform 7x57 cases because the 7 mm Mauser is allowed by that list (and we live in a time that something writen is more valuable than common sence...)

Thanks for your reply loysius.
If I could find quality brass in 7x57 I’d be happy with that. I won’t buy Winchester anymore, it used to be good! I use Lapua 308 palmer brass (small rifle primer) in my 30BR lapua, 308win, 30x47 lapua & 358 win, great brass & you can’t hurt it.

I’ll keep looking for 6mm rem brass.

Norma and Lapua both make 7x57 brass..... hopefully it's available to you !!!

LOL.
Ozzibob I understand how you feel mate!

At one stage I have to make my own 300 whisper cases,
and just a year ago I made a few extra long 45LC case (metal 410 brass) to fit my H&R Survivor 45LC/410 barrel.
Then again for us Ozzians, we are the battlers and would never let the little things worry us.. righto..

OTOH, I am looking for a 45LC conversion kit for my Dillon Square Deal, you got one of these?
