Been training all week, felt good and strong, gun's tuned up, get to the spot, we are going up to cash in our chukar chips. Hit their lair, no one's home, get to the top, still no one, hike over to another mesa, still no one, winds howling, kinda cool, they moved, and to where I'm not sure. We scrambled a lot of slides, mesas, cliffs, covered miles and did thousands of feet in climbing and decending. Nothing. Lot's of signs, tracks, one call came all day, but, they were not to be found.

Drove to another spot, found some Gambles doing their afternoon migration between some PP to get to a feed zone, that's good news!

Gave them some space, hunted some jacks for a bit, got 6 for back-strap fajitas and stuff, came back and...poof! Quail's gone too.

Covered some more miles, no signs or sounds. Great. Off to the chukar hills again, sat out till almost dark, lots of tracks in feed zones, sat around getting cold, one call heard, scoured the place again, nothing.

Aaand, there's a full moon rising. Well there's yer problem.... Laughing

Anyway's, good day to be alive, my new SARPA 20g mountain gun (code name "Sherpa") is a joy to use and carry and it's earned it's stripes and has a mean bark w/ #3 fast-steel and Fiocchi HV lead 1oz #6 coming out, I mean it's DEADLY on big Jack's. Season's winding down, games getting smarter, dumb one's are in the bag already so....here's a pic taking a beak on the way up and stuff...these climbs are not for the timid.

looks like you are haven fun anyways.
why steel #3 and lead #6???? if you are allowed lead why not use that for the bunnies aswell? lead #3 is my all time favourite bunny load. not that Im knocking steel it kills just fine once you start using faster loads(above 1400fps) dont know how keen I would be using it in real rocky country though as riccocet would/could be an issue??

Stovey, looks like a perfect day, regardless of the score.

As Elvis said mate...you look like you are havin' a lot of fun mate.

Ya know what I reckon...all them game birds has joned up and built a "Anti Stovey" radar, set back deep in the hills ,and when you step out the damn thing starts bleeping..."Stovey's on his way guys...let's have some fun wiv him...ok everybody...off to your designated hiding places...no more than 3 birds show yourself to tease him...MOVE NOW - OUT"

1oz of #6 HV lead for chukar...no steel in the rocks. I tired one on a jack and Bigabaddaboom. Only 1220fps but still, big diff over the 7/8oz load. I wanted more pills and more bang and I got it.

7/8oz #3 Fasteel is for Jack's in the pans, clean one shot stops...also for jump shooting ducks next season oh yeh.

I keep my ammo in big HD ziplocks and it's labeled with big fat lettering for easy ID. I keep 3-4 diff loads in the bag.

Vince- nail on the head mate!

They have short memory's though, so next season it's on again.

I'm driven by appetite.

I'm also drivin' them into others bags, lots of buddies are nailing it few miles over, I'm getting bupkis, I need to stop this!

Sorry mate I prolly didnt explain it too well at first.

Chuk's are big and tough, normal 7/8oz #6 is enough, even #8 if you are really close w/ a full choke but, I like getting as much out there as possbile so them 1oz #6 HV Fiocchi loads w/ chilled hard shot will wad them up well with one good hit and this 1oz has I think around 30 or so more pellets than the 7/8oz #6 does.
