|
Over the eon's I've collected some stuff. Lately I'm tripping over some of it, this stuff is getting annoying.
I'm not that happy with some of my gear either. This pack's too big, this one's too small, this one's for winter, this one's for summer, too heavy too light, too raggedy, too orange, wrong pattern, this stuff jinxed....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Then there's the hodge-podge closet. Stuff I've made....in an attempt to save some money. "Oooo, that's a cool set up...bet I could make something like that..." Yeh, right. It'll work, for a bit, then come apart on a climb or in the thickets. "Um, anyone see that green part of my rig here, has my keys in it..." And, the phone to call AAA.
So last night I was foraging, gathering, modifying, fabricating, re-discovering (how many ball caps do I need???)...and started tossing stuff out. I tossed and tossed and tossed some more. Oooo man what a feeling. I made a great dent in things. I'm down to a handfull of each "thing" now.
And then I ordered two more upland vests, one for winter w/ no orange, one for summer with a wee bit- cuz I liked their features..
Great.
What would Bushy do???

What would Bushy do??? Confused
Sell the unwanted stuff on ebay, use the money for more guns and ammo?
Im very close to having to do similar.
I had plenty of room and money once, then the wife and kids arrived, now no longer have space or money.......
How much can you sell kids for on ebay?

HEY it's called spring cleaning!! Once a year that's what cha do. I do mine in the winter, cause there's nothing better than getting more room to move around in the winter. Rake and mow the carpet, chip the toilet back to bright shiny white, chisel the kitchen sink a bit and maybe wash some windows. Dusting gets done soon after the spiders are through making the perimeter watch then ya have to clean out the closets and throw throw throw and of course donate anything worth using. A little organization is helpful too. Like things in like places. When spring finally comes around you'll be tempted to paint, don't do it. Only messes up the place worse and then you get spots on everything you tried to save in the winter clean up.

Unless it's worn out, I always find grateful recipients for stuff I think I no longer have use for.
They're mostly people who are thinner than I am.....

I also suffer from closet shrinkage.

Just did a garage re-do, I was amazed at how much stuff I had stashed in there. I mean it wasn't a mess, untill I started pulling stuff out and then the onion started getting peeled. Sent two freinds home with a truck-load of goodies each!
Cothes: makers egineer in shrinkage genes. More ya use them the more they shrink, so ya gotta buy more, I'm totally convinced!

Last time I checked. Vince needs to do a real clean out of his garage so he can find his reloading bench.
If I have not used it within 5 years it's gone. Then I put something else there to sit for 5 more years. Never get ahead...

I like your thinking, I'm on the 6 mos. rotation thingy....6 mos of dust = give it away or junk it.
Then the next day I'll need it, and it's gone. I hate that.
We have an unwritten rule in the ghetto. Place it on the curb with a lil FREE sign on it and it's fair game. I rarely toss stuff, I put it out on the curb and the recycle fairy comes and wisks it away, it's amazing!

I learned a long time ago that if you put a sign on it for "FREE" It will still be there next week...BUT...If you put a sign on it "FOR SALE $20.00" It's stolen by morning.
I know. I lived in your "prison" for 20 years. I know.
