I was just wondering what everyone uses when hunting ducks and geese. Personally I like the federal hi velocity loads. Shoot 3 inch mags with bb for geese and 4 shot for ducks.

Just curious Reuben

Rueben,
I started using Federal tungsten two years ago on the giant Canadians.
I use 3" 2's. Steel doesn't hardly compare. Tungsten costs more than I like to spend, but for those big geese, its the ticket. With the Tungsten you can drop down to No. 2's. For ducks over decoys, through the years, I've found that 23/4" no. 3's work great for ducks up to mallard size. Crippled to many ducks with No. 4's.

I've always managed to get away with 2s for geese and 4s for ducks, especially early in the season. I might have to bump it up to the magnum versions of each later in the season when they are more wary. Best wishes.

Federal 3" 3's for ducks. Hevi shot 3 1/2 2's for geese. By the time the geese get to this part of Idaho they have had the crap shot out of them. They are very wearey, usually have to set up your spread and then lay about 75 yds. away from the decoys. It works well, but not as much fun as when they are locked up coming straight into the decoys.

Ducks, 2 3/4 inch 2 shot steel early season, 2 3/4 bb steel as things get alittle colder and ducks smarter.

I will move to 3 inch for late season ducks and geese. I will very rarely use 3 1/2 inchers for geese when they are high and unwilling to come closer.

Ducks over decoys in the field or the marsh 2 3/4 inch Kent #2, geese 3 inch BB or 2 3/4 inch tungsten matrix in 1's 3's or even # 5's will kill geese nicely within 40 yards

How co-incidental...My son just purchased a Beretta Extrema2 in 3 1/2" 12 ga. And took it out the next day and took his first goose with it. This was up in Washington. Cheers

2 3/4" steel 2s winchester expert going more than 1400fps work well for me this season I got some game bore 3" 2s and 3s doing 1550fps were even better .doubled on canada geese last year with expert at 40ish yards and dropped three doubles and one triple of mallards this opening weekend with a harrington ritchardson pump with modified choke. hated steel till got loads going above 1300fps now I dont miss lead at all.
