remington 870 express youth 20 gauge

bought for son getting to small, can the stocks be changed to th standard ones and can the barell be changed out to longer ones. thanks...

Never tried changing out the stocks of one, but I'd imagine they were compatable as they are the same model of firearm just with different furniture and barrel, but perhaps someone else has tried and can give you a definitive answer. Smile

As far as I know as long it is not a Light Weight version then most everything should be "adpatable." But then I am not a fully acredited, "smith" Just one in name only. HA HA!.

The Youth Model can be changed out with new barrel and stock, however, the cost can be in excess of a new 870. If you have no younger shooters, either get busy, or consider selling the Youth model and buy and adult.

Remington has rebates on 870s and other models. The 870 rebate is $30 and this is good until the end of the year. We sell 870s for $300 and after rebate the $270 cost bears consideration.

Could extend the butt pad with either a spacer or a thicker pad. Check Brownells for options. This would be a cheaper way to maybe use the gun for a year or two. How long is the barrel now? If it is 26or even 24 inches it is still very shootable for a teenage shooter.
