It kind of fizzled didn't it.
I guess global climate change made this monster into a mouse.

Thanks for the concern Bushy!
We're watching... My daughter is a little over 5 miles from the ocean, Wilmington, NC, and they say they're going to ride it out. Needless to say I'm a little worried. However their place was OK during the storm last year so...
I'm 200 miles inland so I only expect a breezy, probably rainy, day.

Fizzled is a good thing.
Having a cat 5 anything roll over you is never a good thing.
This years cyclone season in Australia looks like its going to be fairly active, we havent had much of a winter or rain.
4th day of spring and its heading towards 35 deg c. Summer will be a bitch.

Wind here 15-20 mph, no rain yet. Wind in Wilmington, NC 25-35, with lots of rain. It's kind of amazing that I'm feeling the effects of a storm that is currently 230 miles away.
Daughter says all is well so far. They lost power for about 1.5 hours but it came back on.
A tornado hit about 3 miles from where the family is supposed to be going on vacation soon. We're discussing Plan B...

Parts of NC got hit hard but I'm fine here. Never even rained. Wilmington got 15" (that's 38 cm for those of you who think that way) of rain, some flooding and a little wind damage. Daughter lost power for about 16 hours. The Outer Banks got hammered, storm surge and rain.
Thanks for the concern my friends!

Other than some moderately high winds and 15 to 20 inches of rain this now cat 1 storm has been a non-event for the continental USA.
It did park over the islands east of Florida as a cat 5 and pretty much leveled the island. I didn't hear what the death count was but it was devastating to them for sure.

One "storm related" death in NC. An 84 year old man fell off a ladder while trying to prep for the storm.
