I hunt an area that gets a lot of pressure and the older coyotes know to run at the sight of a pickup or sound of a distress call and I have watched them literally bite a young one to keep it from coming to the calls .

I have been scouting a pack of yotes and had seen them using a low spot in the terrain to get to a fence row and tree line. I parked the truck 3/4 mile a way and hiked back to their Diner and set up on a rise near the draw in the fencerow they like to use with a hunting buddy setting right in the tree line. We sat there without calling for about 90 minutes and watched two singles and a pair of coyotes work the area just outside of range. I realized I needed to get a little closer so I crawled up the fence row and was slinking into position when I see a pair of ears bouncing over hill coming down the draw. I sit tight and waited until this coyote cleared the ridge and was not outlined on the sky.

Bang Flop -

My son had the daytime AR so I was using my Trusty Rusty .243 Mauser with 58gr V-max stepping out at 3700 pfs ( 42.2 gr IMR 8208 XBR) I love this load - small entry NO exit. The coyote did not take a step when it was hit. My buddy hit one in the rear last week with a 75 BTHP in an AR and look the leg and half of the a$$ of the coyote.

Some critters learn, and learn quickly...seems the wiley coyote is one of them.

Well done DD, that 'yote looks real heakthy and has a very nice looking pelt.

Great shot, Dawgdad - picture and terminal results. Looks like a great pelt. What will you use it for?
