Have had an interest in photography for a while now and have been considering stepping up to a DSLR. My Canon SD1000 (pocket camera) has served me well but the presets and lack of adjustability are sometimes a hindrance for quality photos.

I've seen some really good pictures posted here at Hunting Nut. I would like to hear from some of you and a little info on your equipment of choice all while sharing a photo or three...... or more if you'd like.

Here's a couple I've taken using the macro setting.
The camera lens was placed right in front of the object.
I have taken a number of pictures like this and have used them for my desktop on the computer !!!

Nothin' wrong with your camera or photography abilities mate...they are awesome pics...and if anybody knows, well it's Gelan. He is a photographers nightmare because of his knowledge.

AS far as digital SLRs, I've been pretty happy with my Sony Alpha. My daughter liked it enough to buy one too. It will work with any A-mount lens too.

Hey 221, I'll post a few pics here. Must say I'm pretty much a novice at DSLR's, as I've only been into it a little more than a year. As Vince says, you can get pretty good pics with a P/S. And that is true. But to go beyond that, you really do need a DSLR. Their versatiliy is amazing, as is the accessories for them. The only down sides I see with them, is the initial expenses and the learning curve, which can take up quite abit of time. Lots of good brands out there for equipment. Right now I have your basic entry level canon (T1i). Lenses wind up being the greater of the expenses. Right now I'm using a canon 400mm F5.6, canon 70-300 IS USM, and a Sigma 17-50 OS. Being able to utilize the RAW files from the images these camera's produce puts them way over the top compared to a P/S. Here is an assortment of pics. It should be noted that to post pics from these files to the web, they have to be compressed quite abit, which does result in a reduced Image Quality pic.

Sorry! Here's a couple taken with the Sony Alpha. Didn't mean to make them quit so big. All of the airshow pics in my album were taken with the digital SLR.

Moose, I have got to start taking my camera out and about in the woods over here. My wife who is a semi pro with film cameras (canon F1 with all accessories) giggled when I told her I was going to buy a digital camera. Early in Feb of 2010 I purchased a Kodak Z980 after months of reading reviews and I can say I'm happy with it. Yes it treads on the heels of a dslr entry level prices but I'm happy. Also was surprised that this camera does raw mode.

pumpkin....Is that the same camera you used for the air show pics you posted ???

Don't know what it is but train pictures are always cool !!!
