Hello, forgive me for dropping in a sharing w/o intro...but this will be a good merit to you all Smile

I would strongly suggest taking a serious look at the 165 gr. Barnes triple shock offering. I would pick any of the top powders listed in the Barnes manual #3. You may shoot this bullet 2-3 grains over the listed load for the x-bullet. Use the standard cautions, use a chrony, as increases in powder may NOT be a velocity gain. Also, cut you primer pockets and the flash holes to a better uniforminty of ignition.

These bullets are also very sensitive to seating depth about .050 to .070 off the lands works as a good start.

You reward will be better ballistic performance, less meat damage, and better accuracy.

Ty at the Barnes tech center told me of a 300 yd. quartering away shot at an elk with a .270 130 Triple x that shot nearly through the animal after breaking a rear hip and opposite side shoulder. The 30 cal will perform very similar.

I have been running these bullets, at the 180 gr wt from a .300 wthby at 3200 fps with a 4fps sd. even a closer ranges meat damage in minimal. In fact the damage compared to a 30-30 at similar ranges was showing the 30-30 more damaging. That was not a typo...

Hope this helps. check the barnes site for more info...
