The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter.

It must be true, because the squirrels are gathering nuts.

Three of my other friends have already disappeared.

Are all you huntingNUTs O.K.? Very Happy

We in Western WA. just had our first snow and three days of temps below freezing. I predicted the colder, wetter winter a couple of years ago and it looks like it is here.
It wasn't so much of a prediction as it was a statement about the cycles of nature. Historically in the PNW there is a 50 year cycle and we were due for this weather. It should be like this for two to three years and then go to warm and wet followed by dry and cold and finally back to warm and wet.

Got plenty of wood cut and split. Have three more standing dead oaks ready to fall, buck and split.

I hear you Bushy, before I bought this house where I live now, I had 2 wood stoves (2 story big house) keeping us warm. But insurance regulations put an end to that at the newer house. Cannot have any wood, corn-pellets, etc at all here in the newer house purchase. But I can build a unit enclosed outside (13ft) from the house and piped in, but in return they want astronomical premiums.

Only thing around here that runs on propane is my water heater. The furnace is propane, but the wood stove never lets it lite off. A good thing as it costs over $600 to fill the propane tank...

@ $160.00 per ton for pellets and corn is $179.91 per ton we invested in 6 tons of pellets and suplement them with the odd bag of corn mixed with wood. We turn it down at night so the furnace keeps the pipes from freezing in the basement.

So what does that total $$ for heating for a year? If you don't mind me asking.
