Mad Been a while since I posted a topic and now I have two. I'll have to make them 2 seperate threads cause they have nothing to do with one another. The first topic is my Pact bbkII digital scale- it has gone "crazy"! It will not calibrate or hold a weight. I've had these ten years, and this is the first real problem I've had. This is of coarse unacceptable and dangerous. I tried calling PACT, but they are off until monday (damn holidays booger up my reloading). I got on Midway USA and was checking out some cheapos to buy as a back-up and began reading reviews. When I came to the BBkII review I was disappointed to read that the new scales stink and the current customer service is Horrible. Wondering if any of you guys have dealt with their customer service. Also wondering if I decided to buy a brand new set and what would be recommended in the $100 range. I was looking at the RCBS rangemaster 750. Any info would be appreciated.

I had a simular problem with my RCBS Powder Pro (made by Pact over 20 years ago). This is what they sent me. It might work on yours too. I'll send it to this site. If it doesn't come out as it should I'll be glad to send it by e-mail to you.

Thanks Bushmaster. I downloaded Pacts manual and their factory re-calibration gave very similar directions. I tried it. Twice, and known weights are still "floating". I think the mechanism that does the actual weighing needs replaced. However like I stated before it may be less trouble to just buy a new unit. I will still call Pact after the holidays but I have been reading some horrible things about their customer service. I hate to be out of the reloading game this time of year. Dark at 5:00 and this is my evening hobby!

I have a Pact Mod 1 chronograph that had a small problem and called Pact on it. I ended up with a new one sent by Pact. It cost me postage one way. I have had good experiences with Pact customer service. My old pact was 12 years old when it took a crap and they replaced it basicly for free.

Perhaps what I have read is a couple of rare instances. I will call them Monday and feel them out. I have used these scales a long time and they have always done right by me up until now. Guess I should at least give Pact the benefit of doubt.

You may have a load cell problem, but I doubt it as when a load cell goes bad it just quits.

Yup...Give them a call...Let us know what you find out as to their service department goes.

"Floating" how much? How quickly does it change? This may be obvious but are you sure it isn't catching a draft? I guess there is also the possibility that something new that is electrical is close by generating some noise.

Re-calibrated tonight and it is holding fine. Loaded up 15 rounds of .280 and the scale held the whole time with no floating. I do have a teenage daughter with a cell phone, she was not using it tonight and my scale suddenly is working. I wander if the problem was "noise" from her cell. I still intend on calling Pact, but now I no longer feel the scale is broke. It's odd that this would be the first time I encountered "noise" issues that lasted a couple of days. Been using this unit for years with no problems.
