I stumbled across a very cute Savage 93 17HMR in Stainless today and the pretty shiny stainless got me. Very Happy

My son has been thinking about getting a 17HMR for a while now so Santa just had to bring it home. I can't wait to play with it, but Mrs. Clause said no. I guess I have to wait for my son to open it. wtf

I didn't have to say a word she knew what was going on in my little mind. I guess after 19 yrs she knows me. Shocked

We have been neglecting the squirrels for quite a few years, now they are going to get it. Thinking about trying to learn how to call yote's. Cool

.17HMR is currently my favorite caliber to shoot. You can pick off starlings at 100 yards and they just go "poof" into clouds of feathers. Mines a Lefty Savage 93 as well, but blued. Sadly I got mine before they started adding the accutrigger ... but then again the ones with the accutrigger are almost double what I paid for mine!

I can't wait to take it after squirrels! They seem to be smart enough to stay far enough away from the 22LR. SURPRISE little bushy tails!!!!!

My 17 HMR is a Marlin 917v (heavey barrel) and it shoots every bit as good as my Buddies 17 HMR in a CZ, that is after I did some work to the trigger and the clip. His CZ will put 3 shots through a penny at 100 yards and so will mine now. It didn't when I first got it until the trigger work. Mine wears a Tasco 6x24 scope zeroed at 145 yards and is 1.5 " high at 100 yards. On a very calm day I might add......... Very Happy

If you sight in a 17 hmr dead on at 100 yards you would only be about a 1/2 inch to an inch high at 50 yards which isn't hard to compensate for at all. Plus that thing will pop anything you point it at out to that distance and keep on drilling holes further out with only minor elevations in your aim. Smile

Oh goody goody goody! Now I feel the need to go kill something again. I just dare the squirrels to poke their heads out in the back yard now.

And so another chapter is added to "Expanding the kill-zone diameter at the Shiny-gun Camo Compound".
