Just wondering if anyone out there has much experiende with Redhawks. I have a chance to buy one in .45 Colt with a 5 1/2" barrel slightly used (less than a box through it) for $475.00. Is this a good deal? Thanks.

Go to Gunbroker.com and price them there. I don't think it's a particularly good price though. Slightly used is nice though and I prefer the 5 1/2 inch barrel to other barrel lengths.

I bought one of the 4" Redhawks in .45 Colt a while back and really like it. Handloads with 200 grain bullets at about 1000 ft/sec were very comfortable. The 300 grain bullets at the same velocity weren't fun but they were managable.

Well, Mike: you have two great things going with one revolver. First, its a Ruger and, second, its a 45 Colt! Congratulations on experimenting with some of the heavier stuff. John Linebaugh's website extolls the virtues of Ruger strength and 45 Colt power, an interesting read.

I love Rugers Rob.
I love shorter barrels.
I really like the .45 Colt.

I would buy the gun if I were you.
I'm easy prey for pistols like the one that you are looking at.

Have fun shooting your new pistol when you get it, and let us know how YOU like it.

Eric Very Happy Very Happy

OK, that was five days ago --- where is the report? Inquiring minds want to know. Of course, you are getting pounded by a storm today and the next few days, but, for a dedicated shooter that should present no problem! Smile Smile Smile

Have you been to the St Johns range?

Yeah I fully intend to give a report but it may be a while with my schedule being what it is. Hopefully sooner than later. No I have not been to the St Johns range but I have coworkers that go there often.
