I found a Lee press I realy like, Its a Classic turret press with cast iron base. My question is this. I want to load my 22 K Hornet on this in its automatic form, what Lee powder measure will work for this? and what special die will I need to dispence powder into the tiny rifle cases? I have already, my Redding 22 KHornet dies so all I need is the powder measure and its die, Right?
Please help me out here fellas, I am a Dillon owner and have been for over 20 years now. But dont hold that against me.

Well, to answer a question you didn't ask, why not get the Lee Classic Cast single stage? Unless you plan to load a large volume of ammo each time you sit down the single stage will likely be nearly as fast and you can have total control of each step of the process.

I retired my original turret press years ago, it just didn't do anything I needed done and I didn't like the (necessary) spring in the turret. That spring causes inconsistancies when FL sizing and, sometimes, seating.

For stick powders, the Lee Powder Measure is about as good as they get. Not so with ball powder though, that tends to leak around the sides.

I dont need another single stage press. I have 2 now, 1 Lyman Spartan my father gave me, and a Lyman crusherII.
I like the idea of haveing the dies in a tool head. installed and adjusted just once and the convienieance of useing at as a progressive turret or a single stage turret, Just by removeing the advance rod from the toolhead and press ram.
All I need is the correct powder measure and die for the 22KHornet. Are the Lee powder measures all spring return? Or do some need the chain?

Gidday Crackster.

The powder Measure on the Lee 1000 had a "Pour Through" die that was activated by the action of the case going up into the die and the arm on the powder measure was chain operated for the return.

I never had a problem with this setup and it always "threw" accurate measures of powder.

Cheers, Vince

Have a look at these two and see if they might solve your problem. I think the Lee Perfect Powder Measure is what you might be looking for...It can be used with a Lee unversal through powder die and dispences from 2 to 100 grains. If the photo isn't good enough I can send you the page via e-mail... Smile

Go to--
www.realguns.com

On the home page you will see articles.
Under articles, you want to hit projects.
Down the list are three articles written in order for using the Lee Classic Turret.
It will give you EVERYTHING that you wanted to know about the Lee Classic Turret Press. It has all the pictures with different views of all of the add on parts also.

After reading these articles, you will be an expert on the Lee Press.
I'm not kidding.

I use my Lee Classic Turret for my 9mm and .45ACP.

Bushy is correct that you will want the Lee Dropper.

Just read these articles, and they will answer any questions that you have on this press.

I downloaded these a long time ago, and I will still reference them at times.

Eric

Thanks for the pic Bushy...I now remember what the Lee Powder Measure I had is called...it is the LEE Auto Disk Powder Measure and you could buy a micrometer type fitting for more precise measures.

Worked great.
