She already has a Browning 243 lever action for hunting. I had my new 338 out the other day, and she said she wanted to shoot it. I told her it was gonna kick pretty good, and she wanted to see first. I put 5 rounds through, and she said only if it was a lighter load!!! The gun is a Ruger stainless/laminate, the bullet is a Speer 200gr spitzer sp, and the powder is imr 4831

SSL, I was at a CAS match and watched a guy shoot what I assumed was a .38 or possibly a .32 with VERY mild loads. When he got to the unloading table I saw that he was using a .45 Colt! I never did hear what powder or charge he was using. Oddly enough I saw the same guy blow out the magazine of a Henry while loading it at another match.
Have you used IMR's Trail Boss powder yet? Designed to prevent some of the problems the cowboy shooters were having with low volume loads. I've got a pound sitting here but haven't loaded any yet.

Pumpkinslinger,
No, I haven't tried Trail Boss yet. I don't shoot light loads in much of anything since my main handgun shooting is .44 Mags and .45 ACPs, but I have heard really good things about it. One of my maintenance mechanics at work is pretty big into CAS and he swears by Trail Boss. As you mentioned, it is designed to provide sufficient bulk to help fill the cases eliminating much of the empty space that allows the pressure wave from the primer to shoot past the powder charge.
