Hi Dallan ! Very Happy
OK, how about barrel length ?
To show differences between say a 3" barrel,up to 32-36",showing the velocity differences ?
My 1884 Springfield Trap Door has a 32",maybe a little bit longer barrel.
The NEF HandiRifle has a 22" barrel. Both in 45-70.
This would cover most barrel lengths including some of the old BP rifles.
Conversely,my Uberti 1873 Cattleman 45 Colt,has a 4 3/4" barrel. Same for the Ruger BH 45 Colt in 4.6".
My F.A. Model 83 454 Casull has a 6".
Only longer barrel,is my Ruger RH 44 mag in 7 1/2".
This I feel Dallan, can or could help with load development.
Gotta get my ballistics computer built.
Thanks Dallan !
Richard

I agree about that add-on. But until they do it, check out this short article on the subject, perticularly the chart on barrel lengths and muzzle velocity differences. I'm using it to correct the muzzle velocity of my loads in the program manually. So far so good.

I wouldn't think that Dallen wants to add that feature. Main reason being that two rifles from the same maker will produce different results with equal caliber & barrel lengths. Some barrels change 30 fps an inch and others 100fps an inch. It kind of goes beyond free software and the results would be less than accurate. You still have to work up loads for each barrel length (ex. NEF) and the results would be derived from the two loads in two NEF barrels. Still those results would vary from someone elses barrels on their NEF. The end difference on the trajectory is in tenths of an inch anyhow and not much value in the field. There are just too many variables involved to make for a usefull add-on to Point Blank.
The v2.0 currently being built is a totally different animal from v1.8. Just hang in and see how you like 2.0 features when it's released.
