I have an opportunity to pick up a Remington 700 ADL syn in 25-06 brand new for $300. What do you think? I already have a .270 win and a .300 and I am having a hard time deciding.

I agree with Joe.....I'd buy it in a heartbeat. That's a very good price on a 700 and I think you will love the 25-06. I also agree that if you don't like it, you can get back what you paid for it...maybe more. Heck, if it's brand new, I might even be interested.

I just took my new Remington 700BDL in .25-06 out for its first trip to the range. I was shooting factory Remington ammo in 100 and 120grs. It was groupoing at 1". I suspect I'll do better with my handloads. The rifle has a nice feel to it. The recoil isn't bad, but the bark is horrendous, and that rascal must be spitting about 18" of flame out the front. Best wishes.

Hi Cal,
Glad your new "toy" is working out. I know what you mean that it's bark is worse than it's bite !!! It is similar to a 22-250 in that regard. Lot's of noise and flash, but not a bad kick at all. I'm sure that if your "out of the box" groups are that good, you will be very pleased when you can work up some hand loads for it. Good luck with that.
All the best.....Blaine

Most of my shooting is from the bench, and I'm finding the .25-06 is not ideal for shooting at the range. The recoil is not too much for field use where you rarely even notice the recoil, but it's different from the bench. I'm going to the range again tomorow and taking a bunch of reloads with 75 and 87gr, bullets. Maybe that'll be better. I had been using 100 and 120gr. factory loads. It's a nice handling rifle, and like most Remington 700s I like it. Best wishes.

Don't get that size over here but .22/250 or .222 both retail at £415-00 or, in yours, $739-45! Shooting in England is NOT for the faint of heart OR wallet.

er elk boy, we do get that "size" or dont you mean caliber over here, how do i know? well i have a sauer 25/06 and i know numerous hunters who own remington 25/06's, they normally retail around £7-800 for the varmint synthetic or Sendero models. Great rifle and great caliber probably killing numerous deer over the British isles as we speak. Mine is comin out for long range roe bucks at a location where closing in on them is almost impossible, i use the 120gr combined Tech bullet with devastating results.
