This is a very interesting and innovative storage for a hunting rifle. I like the idea...alot.

well it COULD be solution to the new laws trying to be pushed.....almost need security in vehicle to be as good as in home....chained to solid part of vehicle inside locked hard shelled box has been proposed......
definitely wouldn't want a dishonorable discharge of weapon in that position.....and YES it does happen, more than one person has been shot removing or placing weapon in vehicle .

That was my first thought as well Pete, but I suppose if it was well protected with sold bars, a bit like the side impact protection in Volvo car doors, it may be ok.

A great idea mate, but now illegal in many parts of the world…especially Australia, and more than likely New Zealand.

Rifle rack in the back window is an invitation to vehicle break-in around here.

here we now HAVE to have rifle locked in box/hard case bolt is on person and ammunition locked in glovebox.

so the mudguard or tailgate can work for rifle itself....and would probably pass the test.
