Gidday mate. Wow, sounds like it was one helluva ride...not one I'd like to take. ROFL

Glad to hear that you have been catching fish. All I ever seem to do is fatten the buggers up with my bait for the next guy to catch. Sad Oh well, at least we are starting to catch our "targeted" fish now....but they are undersize so back they go.

How did you manage to hook yourself with a fly? Did you do any damage to yourself....other than your pride that is. I've never done any fly fishing so I can't see how it would have happened. That would have been most untidy. Lucky about the barb though....would have been a real bugger to have to cut that out and maybe ruin a good fly in the process.

Thought the pong of that cologne was familiar..... Fart . When the missus pulls me up for dropping one I politely remind her that you get your Fart License back the day you get married. Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

Hey buddy, Usually i go after whatever whenever......there's always fish to catch Wink However, next year the wife said she's making me go to Florida and do some fly fishing.........Darn wife want's to get rid of me??? wtf Laughing Seriously though, quite a few in my family are going to florida next year to take the kids to disney and two of the days i'll be fly fishing ALL DAY LONG Very Happy

How i hooked myself is when i caught a heavy tail wind, and seeing how my casting still needs to improve, i was a bit too close in and crossed over to change directions, and then SMACK!!!!! Mad And yeah my pride was hurt more than the few cuss words, blaming the fly, and dabing up the blood from the hole it made. Since i tie my own though, it wouldn't be too big of a loss. Cool

And whats this about a fart license???? Confused You mean you need a license for carrying deadly weapons of various degrees in potential???? Haha

Bushmaster,

That is good sound advice unless your not really paying attention to the wind and enjoying the time your wasting ... I mean fishing .... and you have it happen. Laughing And I dont have eyes in the back of my head. Very Happy

And I don't fly fish either...I throw heavy pieces of metal at them and pull it back. Most of the places I fish you can't fly fish anyway. Again...I say...DUCK!!!

Dimitri, I hear ya on barbless hooks Cool But i guess you must of been using the wrong thing with the too much work for too little reward comment. Confused I was at a place Sunday night that a guy came up to me when i was only there for 15 minutes and asked....How in the hell do you catch 10+ fish in 15 minutes when i've been here for 7 hours and haven't caught one thing!? I usually catch more on a fly now than i used to catch on bait/artificial baits. Wink Except for walleye.....i use a twister tail spin fishing or a Clouser fly fishing with the twister still prevailing Cool

Bushy, Steelhead i take it.....but why throw metal and not a magnet? Confused ROFL

10Ring,

Possibly I was using the wrong baits I'm no expert at fishing Laughing

Mind you if you asked anyone I knew about me and fishing they'd tell you while "I'm fishing" I'm doing other things 90% of the time other then me actually casting the rod and fishing ROFL

The memories of last spring steelhead fishing are comming back. Mad

Dimitri

LOL.....Yes Bushy, i go steelheading every year and have been for more than half my life. It's an on going joke about the magnet comment in my area, so i just as assumed it was a universal saying. Cool Steelhead and rainbows are beautiful, but my main "go after" fish after the steelie run is Brookies (and all them damn fish are pickey....but i still manage to catch a few). Very Happy After that though, i go for the fight and sheer brutal nature of carp (catch and release only). Then of course Pike, bass and panfish..........And yes Bushy, even catfish on a fly. Very Happy Then it's time for the fall season of the various Salmon runs and i go after Chinook, Pinook, Coho, and Pink (pink salmon, not que pink).

But the "Mud" you speak of.....Here they are known as Mudpuppies (or Dogfish). Yuck :yuck:

I usually go after anything that will bite....I mean I have to get something sooner or later...the law of averages must eventually come into play. The trouble and strife is MAKING you go to Florida???? Mate, what a trip. From what I here there are plenty of fish to catch down there. Have friends in Florida. They are on a few acres with lake and river frontage. He is a retired veteran and copper and she works for a Sheriffs Dept. Fly fishing all day eh......that'll give you plenty of practise casting....you will be able to target all different parts of your body with the fly. ROFL

Its not so much you need a license to fart but when you are courting it is prudent to contain those fun bodily functions. Now, after you are married you can cut loose again without fear of
loosing your lady. Fart Dutch Ovens becomes a fun sport. ROFL Be aware though that these are reciprocal so it can backfire on ya. wtf Shocked Been there, done that. Yuck

Yeah Vince, i really don't want to hook the guide now do i.......but i can try for his hat Shocked Plus....a hook in the backside may be the key for an excuse not to go on tour rides!
Hunny.....but i can't sit down for that length of time, i hooked my self in the can, and the dr. said i have to do activities which require standing.....Like fly fishing ROFL
