Wander into gun stores that is....long story short, I've been lookin for a Sharps rifle, went into Cabela's and found one, except it had a foreign name like Armscor on it, so I went home looked it up and found it might have been made in the Philippines, wrote to Pumpkin to see if he heard of it, then wrote to Armscor about it. Pumpkin said maybe Armi sport and then I got note from Armscor and they said maybe it's Armsport. Well anyway Cabela's had the name wrong and actually Armsport is a good name in replicas so I went back to Cabela's (money in hand because it was for $549 and you just can't find em for that price)......it got sold.....uh...long story short....So I went to my local blackpowder shop and we discussed the whole episode and also talked about what I wanted. Don't want a collector item, I want to shoot it and have fun with it so he goes back into the secret room and comes out with a Springfield Trap-door circa 1884 and they want $659 for it. It's already been messed with, no real collector's value and it's beautifully done. Looks just like a calvary carbine but without the saddle ring. Barrel has been shortened to 21inches and polished all the rust off it looks like a new barrel, except on the inside, but it looks decent to shoot. The stock has been sanded so there's no Springfield cartouche and also looks very nice and walnut. No rust on it except for the barrel band. Well I still want a Sharps....that'll have to wait for another day...cause I got somethin to play with now.

Suz-I have one-it's the long barrel infantry version,family heirloom with the original bayonet,shoots great and will shoot over a mile!Just be careful to load only for the trapdoor springfield specs in the loading manuals,and keep ammo separate from same for your "marlin jackhandle"-mixing could be tragic!

Yea a few clever ideas, Thanks!! Mine shoots pretty good, I took it out today, the last day of deer season. It couldn't charm any deer into showing themselves but it was cool to carry and it got some much needed mountain air down it's pipe. I put a red dot scope on it and it obeys nicely.
