As for the deputies ,we all are taught to follow protocol. We were taught to use double tap or until the threat is stopped. If you were never in that type of situation you do not know how it affects you and your mind. Every morning when I strapped on my duty belt I would get a knot in my guts, hopped that I did not have to use my weapon. But we were taught not to hope not use it but to expect to have to. A few years ago we were called out to hunt for a sniper that was down by the river in thick brush, you could only see 15 to 20 feet (11:00 at night) which ended with shots fired. still get goose bumps thinking about it.

Shocked I won't take either side on this one-for each situation can be different if played 100 times over.My opinion is that a little orange paint could have stopped a world of grief-or at least 99%!On the opposite side-what if the gangsta's start painting their muzzles orange-leaves Leos in a terrible position either way!People gotta blame something or someone-I say blame feinstein,or pelosi,or reid,or schumer,or blumberg,or.......gumby........or the easter bunny!

Thanks for discussing. Its a sad situation that our society has degrade to this point where the police are at such a risk.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, everthing starts looking like a nail.
From my pov as a monday morning quater back, reading only the above general media bs it till looks like a training issue.
What is the general policing enviroment these guys work in? They seem pretty amped up, that may have had a lot to do witn it.
No winners in tnis situation.
