I like that hard rubber mat because it deadens vibrations...
I use the 280 case because the ones I have are .060 longer than any 30-06 I have seen and it offer a little more over all powder capacity. The 500 cases that I purchased on a special order are from 3.003 to 3.010 in overall length and they will trimmed to exactly 3.00 after fireforming. And from past experiences and loadings, I get an average of 10 loadings per case, so that translates into an average of 5,000 loadings for what I have on hand....

The 165gr Sierra seems to be opening up disproportionally at the longer range. 1000 to 1200 and group size doubles. I think I would use the A-Max all the way. Regardless, seems like your having fun and getting good results.

DS...that has to be about the best shooting I have ever seen mate. I can't even comprehend shooting beyond 300 yds, yet you are shooting tighter groups at 600 yds than I shoot at 100 yds mate.
Your rifle is certainly delivering the goods...but then again, with your level of workmanship and attention to detail, it is nothing less than what I would expect from one of your masterpieces mate.
Once again, I am green with envy, not just with your rifle, but also with your shooting prowess. WELL DONE MATE.

Hi Vince,
thank you for the compliments...
Shooting groups like those posted are definitely not an everyday occurance. I had to get a day with absolutely NO wind and had to shoot as soon as I could see the target, well before the sun came up. When there is a lot of mirage to contend with, my shooting goes south pretty quick...
I have shot thousands and thousands of rounds of ammo at 1,000+ yds. to be able to shoot groups like the ones posted and to me, they are nothing to write home about. I know guys who can shoot circles around me and with the way some of these guys can shoot, I won't even bother to take my rifle out if its case. I just do the best "I" can, but you always know there is somebody better just around the corner...
So you have places where you hunt, that you can stretch your shooting distance? I can tell you how to easily build a drop table for your rifle if you can. I built mine in 50 yd. increments, from 600-1,200 yds.. My rifle will always stay sighted in to hit point of aim at 600 yds., and anywhere from there to 1,200 yds., I just range the distance, dial my scope, put the crosshairs where I want the bullet to go, and gently touch the trigger. Of course you have to take wind, mirage, altitude, barametric pressure, etc., into consideration but, it's all just part of the game....
