Here are some pieces and parts I am sticking together this weekend...
RRA NM lower with A-1 buttstock, WOA flatttop and SR 20" barrel. YHM Quad rail gas block and a Hogue float tube. Waitng on a set of Millet X-tra high rings and another Mueller Sport Dot to make it complete.

Great job Suz!
My last build was an M4, but I have another AR15 lower sitting and waiting for me to fund another build. There are so many cartridge choices available it's hard to pick. My one drawback is that I can't use it for hunting here in PA.

LOL, I thought Plum Crazy was a color! Changing their name was a good idea. Thanks for the extra picture Suz.

Hey DawgD that oughta be quite a shooter. You're breakin my bank on that one (which is easy to do) but I like it. That trigger group cost more than my entire lower! When I grow up I wanna be your driver. I think it's a great winter pastime, I'd love to build more of them, and I bet they're easy to sell. Once you get going the funding would be easier and you could get more exotic. Shoot em for a while and sell em, build another. Take your pick of the best ones and those are the keepers you build your reputation from.
Vinnie! Never been called a ratbag before and I assume it's a nicer term than it sounds like or you'd be blushing or squinting or holding you hand up in a defensive posture. Stovey's got seat next to me at the stump but it's because of his constant need of band-aids (from clammerin over rocks all day) and I like to keep the place tidy. Some day I'll get him to cut switches for me. Still nasty weather, can't go shooting, I hate it.

The bank was spared a bit Suz but I have more in it than I care to add up.
The barrel was a match gun take off that holds MOA at 300 yards but wanders a bit at 600 so it was "free".
The lower is a back up for my match gun so it was not doing anything any way. The float tube and the BCG were a scratch and dent pick up for about half price and I already had the bolt that goes with the old barrel. The only new stuff was the complete upper receiver and the gas tube/block.
Still cost me about $350 for the upper, same in the lower, scope and mount will be $150ish so it will be about $850 when it is all done. Then if I ever feel like it I can stick a new barrel on it but I am pretty sure I have some good life left in that one for coyotes out ot 300 yards.

Wow you did pretty good DawgD. Resourceful......fun stuff just laying around waitin for a guy to screw....them...together....sort of....did I say that? Funny it sounds familiar too....I should go make dinner...$850 is nothin for a match grade rifle. I haven't found out how to shop for this stuff but one thing I found out is, it's cheaper to buy already made stuff. Unless, like you, you already have some parts. I'm just getting to know a new shop here in town that deals in ARs and they're pretty friendly about getting good prices, but they don't seem to know much. They're more sales oriented than gun smith and so I don't ask advice. Where am I goin with this.....I gotta go make din din.

There is really not any cost savings in building your own stock AR. Just the satisfaction of doing it yourself. If you make a custom with accessories then it is really yours..
I am a pack rat and when I see a bargain I will grab it and stash it until I can use it.

Oh speaking of '98s I'm getting mine back from the gunsmith again. Arriving tomorrow. I'll have to take a photo of it in the stock. The guy sent me a no charge invoice but not an explanation or apology. Maybe he'll include some cash in the box with my....doubt it.
Well the only way of getting what I wanted on the AR was to build my own. Glad I did, it was educational and fun. Now I have something to mess with if I wanna change anything and it won't cost me much to reconfigure it. Wish I'd gotten into them earlier in my life, but they were a real no no for a while, and a girl certainly doesn't get proper attention while carryin an Ar around. Pink? no thank you!

well Suz I guess if your 98 comes back good thats all you can ask of them.
maybe just maybe they will take note of their cockup and provide great/ better service in the future, I will bet Bushys left one that they will treat any thing of yours with alot of care in the future as a peaved off customer is very bad for business , whereas a happy one gives repeat business . good luck.

Vinnie I don't own a pink anything. I don't think you'd call your wife a ratbag (to her face) with a knife in her hand. That's especiallly beyond endearment and low grade insult. Next time you have a beer in your hand I'm shaking it and spraying you, I can do that all week.
