LOL Aloysius, reminds me of the joke about the guy looking at himself under the bed covers while his wife complains about him not saving anything for his retirement.

Why not just go with the AR10 platform and use a standard short action cartridge ???

Weight and bulk. Think I'd go with a WSSM before I would do an AR10.

Slim, Just remember short barrels equal lower velocities so plan accordingly !!!

Yepper- I love showing folks that on my Ruger SBH (aka: Boomer), same has one. Can't even catch a nail on the junction. The man has the touch and makes some wicked accurate shooters. Prices are very competetive and his work is outstanding.

Thought about going with a Roberts, here to I would go with AI chamber. With the Roberts you can get into OAL issues depending on the reamer used and magazine box length.
Some guys build Bobs on long actions for this reason.
Bottom line, I just find the .250AI more appealing.
ME TOO; OR 3. You are right and that depends alot on your action preference I had you pegged for a 7 or 700 mountain in s.a. but that might be too traditional. if you are going synth. how about the Ti action? I prefer the Commercial Intermediate Mausers like the Heym's and usually I am a middle of the road to heavy for caliber bullet guy, so yeah mag length is definitly a consideration. By the way, my 6.8 is doing fine it is the only rifle besides the 7.62x39 that I load light for caliber but when you are talking autos tuned to a certain timing I don't play around. That is why I appreciate my bolts so much.

Shoot an E-mail to the Bulletsmiths @ Sierra and Alliant's tech line and they'll send you an e-mail file of loads if they have it in the chambering.

As Stovey said, shoot e-mails to bullet and powder manufacturers. The manuals (Sierra, Hornady, Nosler and Lyman) do not list the .250AI loads.
