I was able to take the rifle apart last night and give it a good cleaning. The bore had been cleaned, but the action and especially the magazine tube were filthy. I used Murphy's Oil Soap to clean the wood and it worked great. A lot of dirt came off without taking away from the aged color of the wood. I then rubbed Butcher's Boston Polish amber paste wax vigorously into the wood with my hand, let it dry and buffed it out. I think it looks a lot better without having detracted from the aged look.

Thanks! I think that wax originated for wood floors and furniture. If you rub it in real hard and fast, the friction heats it up and it melts into the wood grain. www.bwccompany.com/bos...olish.html

beautiful rifle, brings back memories of the 30/30 I had as a teenager. I must look at the .32 a bit more carefully.
