I came across stories on these FEMA camps while looking into the recent gun grabbing events and thought it interesting and even a bit scary, if it's true.
These FEMA camps have supposedly popped up across the country with some estimating as many as 800 camps. They are called FEMA camps and supposedly are controlled by Homeland Security to be used in the event of major disasters.
This is one bill used for funding residential camps as they're called: Full Text of H.R. 645 (111th): National Emergency Centers Establishment Act - GovTrack.us
If these camps were set up by FEMA to house families in emergencies, why are there so many that are homeless from Sandy and why weren't they used for that purpose?

There are ten FEMA zones set up and coincidentally there are ten members of something being called The Council of Governors.
From Wikipedia: "The Council of Governors is a group of 10 state governors of the United States. The group was established in January 2010 in order to strengthen the partnership between federal and state governments in protecting the nation against all manner of threats, including terrorism and natural disasters. The Council was created by Executive Order 13528, signed by President Barack Obama on January 11, 2010, as recommended by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 which was passed by the 110th Congress and signed by President George W. Bush on January 28, 2008."

I have seen one such camp and the razor wire at the top makes you wonder whether they are trying to keep folks in or out.
The fences are just cyclone wire fences so we could slip home-made shotguns in to help get them out. Smile

The only permanent FEMA camp I'm aware of in New Jersey is in the old Ft. Dix/McGuire AFB, but it wasn't used to house the victims of Sandy. They instead set up a tent city inside the Monmouth Race Track grounds. Very little heat and electricity in the tents, with Porta-Johns set up outside. The people that lost homes were housed there during an early winter storm and suffered as a result of the conditions.

I've looked at satellite imagery of quite a few of these FEMA sites & TBH they look like places to store resources more than anything.
One giveaway as to their purpose is the style of fencing used - no way is it there to keep people in - more to keep thieves out..
