I have no first hand experience with Zastava, but, I can highly recommend the Tikka based on weight and accuracy. Out of the box, for example, the T3 Lite may be one of the most accurate available. Most weight 6lbs or less and come with scope rings that do a good job.

The disadvantage of the Tikka is the cost of magazines. For .50 cents worth of plastic, Tikka commands a princely $52.50! And, they are hard to find. Too, the Tikka bolt port (the open part of the action) is rather small which means that plunking the round in at the range is a little less easily done. OTOH, the smoothness of the Tikka bolt is superb.

If I recall, the forerunner of CZ was Brno, highly regarded for producing excellent rifles. I think their name change is related to the collapse of the former USSR but don't know the details. Tikka seems to be the later version of Carl Gustav rifles, more recently acquired by Sako. They also have a reputation for producing excellent rifles. I think both CZ and Tikka are quite favorably compared to US manufactured rifles and I personally like both. I think I'm on pretty solid ground here but can't be certain since both are European firms that have recently been involved in name changes. Maybe someone else can add to this. Best wishes.

The Zastavas were previously marketed as Interarms Mark actions and rifles. I have one in 7x57mm that was sold by H&R about 15 years ago. They are OK, but clearly not up to the BRNO standards Cal referred to. I have no experience with Tikka so cannot comment. All the best...

The Zastavas are currently being marketed by Charles Daly..and from what I can tell if you have a problem with one they are very reluctant to fix any problem you might have..they don't stand behind their warranty! The Czech made CZ/Brno rifles are still available and are not the same as the Yugo made Zastava rifles... CZ quality is excellent...

I don't own either..but if I was going to plunk down my hard earned cash for a rifle..I would choose the Tikka...if I had to choose between the it and the Zastava...

I just plunked down my hard earned cash for a Tikka T3 Hunter in 6.5X55. They have a nice feel and a reputation for excellent accuracy.
I also looked at the CZ 550. It looks to be a well made rifle at a reasonable price but I haven't heard anyone claim unusual accuracy for them (which is what I was looking for.)
I've been splitting firewood and haven't had a chance to shoot the darn thing yet. So, I'll have to let you know.

I've been looking hard at both Tikka and CZ since I've grown rather disenchanted with Remingtons. CZs were excellent when they were marketed as Brno, and if it's true that Tikka is merely an inexpensive Sako that's good enough for me. I'll have to look a little harder but strongly suspect that my next new one will be CZ or Tikka. I'm tired of throwing away $250. for glass bedding and barrel floating to make a rifle shoot accurately. I seem to be incuring that expense with every U.S. made rifle I buy. Enough of that nonsense. Best wishes.
