My God Stovey!!! Remember, this is a family forum...

I used to ride bicycles My last bike was a Road Master (circa 1956), but then I discovered horses. Much easier to peddle.

You really do hate my legs. Sad Maybe I should shave 'em again... Razz

I was ranked 5th in the State XC Championships '99-'00. Not no more though. Got runned over too many times training...
Oh well...

Like I said...I got too many passions. I know cycling and hunting/shootin' are pretty unrelated. But, all my passions take me to the mountains, sea, desert etc...climbin' a mountain on my bike or kickin bushes chasin' wabbits and birds...love it all.

I wear a lot different hat's, boots, helmets...but they all mean the world to me and are at my core.

That's a 20th century upgrade fer sure.

You still spin vinyl? I shudder at the thought of the albums I gave away or just tossed out. Had milk crates full of them! Argh...miss my old Marantz quad w/ the joystick, Pioneer and Sansui stuff and my Dual turntables. It was fun putting those old systems together. The redcord vacuums, dust-buster thingys, cleaning fluids. Systems were a lot different back then. Sounded better im my opinion.

Yup...On a Dual 1229 I bought it in 1970 new. For recording to tape I use a Shure M91ED and for general listening I use a Grado Gold 1 Prestige....

Ya gotta admit, Omini, that his legs sure aren't pretty. Of course some in caly might think so...

Yer gonna give me a complex fer pickin' on me get-a-way stix...

I had two 510's...I think them was entry level ones. They trakced well and stayed on speed, decent platter weight and doable noise with a rubber damper pancake thingy.

You are as pushbike mad as my son-in-law Stovey. He was a Pushbike Courier for years (by choice) and rode a "fixie" most of the time.

Over here they have a few rides each year for those crazy enough to want to "sit down and run" for lots of miles and my daughter and him used to enter. The main annual one is a 100 km (60 miles) ride from Brisbane to Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. The first year they did it, my daughter rode a geared Giant and averaged 28 kph...my son-in-law rode his "fixie" and kept up with her. The second year they both rode "fixies"...only averaged 19 kph that year. It is not uncommon for the road bike riders to do the 100 km ride, have a drink and rest, then turn around and ride the 100 km back home.

My son-in-law has gone over to motorcycles now because of his bad knees, although he is about the best bicycle mechanic in SE Queensland. He is commonly referred to as "McGyver" at the 24 hr races. If you have a problem with your bike...go see "McGyver, is the call.

Both of them are in the middle of a three week ride into the Outback (read desert) on their Suzuki DR 650 Dual Sport bikes. He also has a DL1000 V-Strom sitting at home. They have to carry extra fuel (even with 33 litre tanks on the bikes) and water on the ride because of the remoteness of the ground they are covering.

Cheers, Vince

Reminds me of when I lived in Yuma, Arizona. It's mostly a bombing range for the military.

Mornin BushM!! No I didn't ride bikes on the bombing range...lot's of people hunt for military discards tho. They look for flare parachutes and brass and stuff. It's illegal to be in there but like the Mexicans crossing the border, you can get away with it without bein caught. I had a parachute hanging from my bedroom ceiling that I died pink. It was a dust collector tho and Mom made me take it down after a while. The real prize with those is the parachute lines, lots of tough handy little ropes to play with.
