Just found out that Remington has issued a public safety warning on 17 HMR AMMUNITION and recalled their MODEL 597® 17 HMR SEMI-AUTOMATIC rifle.

Thanks for the links! Good to know that I shouldn't think one of these is a good deal at a gun show. Was anyone injured as a result of finding out about the safety issue? Doesn't say much for Remington firearm checkout and Safety Certification.

As far as I've been told some powders later chosen to get higher speeds was not idea with the 22LR rifle actions as a whole, therefor they ended up having issues. Not just a Remington thing but across the board of 17 rim fire rifles.

Saw this information in a few shooting magazines. Looks like a $200 or $250 coupon may or may not cover the cost of a replacement Remington firearm. This is not good. All the best...
