Not a snow balls chance in hell of that ever happening.
We have "permissions" that change on a political whim.
We may become a republic some time after QE2 passes, but no-one trusts any of the politicians to rewrite the constitution to the peopes advantage so the best we can hope for short of a civil war is maintaining the status quo.

Maybe you could explain that God gave the animals and plants the right to self defense and People being God's favorite were given the right to self defense too.

Maybe then they wouldn't arrest you for fighting off a robber or burglar.

Yup...yer right Mike...an SLR (L1A1), and an M16 and a F88 Austeyr, also an M60, a L7 (both GPMG), oh, and a Browning HP pistol. (I carried all at one time or another in my time in the Army).
