The 25/06 is a caliber that never really caught on in NZ.
That said, I know a guy who has 2 in a safe, holding them on behalf of a friend who will likely never get his firearms license back.
They seem to lurk unknown and unused in safes up and down NZ.
Ammunition for them is not exactly plentiful, and I have never seen one at the range.
They seem to be a US thing. From the little I have read, they send a 100gn pill hoofing along very flat for about 300ish yards.
And that's about the limit of what I know, other than the fact that they and the 243 are next door neighbours.

Very popular long range rounds for small (varmints, coyotes etc) to mid-sized game (ie: Pronghorn antelope and Mule, Whitetail or Coues Deer).
25-06 is a long case vs the 243's shorter case. IMO there is no comparison between the two. Everything a 243 can do, the 25-06 can do further and harder... with very little difference in felt recoil.

Its a hotrod caliber. My dad always loved the heavier weights for hunting, 115 or 117 SPs.

Ah well that makes sense. I searched under 25/06 and found nothing.
My eye must have caught "school me" in passing as I searched, then I started this thread.
I'll go have a looksie at that one.

Some of our overseas brothers might be scratching their heads over what a ‘wobbly’ is! And why you would shoot it...
And some can ‘throw a wobbly’ - just to confuselate them even more!

and I shoot wobblies for the same reason my dog still licks his bits......because he can....
they are a pest species and numbers are getting up there...if we cant control numbers by shooting...they drop the dreaded green rain...which kills everything .
