The last few days here in SW ND have been pretty darn cold. Today was no exception. My buddy Russ and I took to the field about 10 this morning after some pheasants. Tempts. about -10 with 4" new snow from last night. Went to our friend Dale's small farm. We turned our three labs loose and we were immediately into birds. No wild flushes todays. Birds held extremely tight. Wasn't long and we had our limits. Once the dogs started putting up the birds, the cold weather didn't matter anymore. Tried to take a few pics of our hunt, but my camera just would not function in the cold. Was a pretty fun hunt. Very Happy

Sounds great Moose! Happy you guys got into them.

I was up there hunting sharpies once a couple of years ago and you guys got an early snow with A LOT of wind. The wind started the afternoon before the snow. We decided to try the pheasants on farms south of Beach. We flushed as many birds coming back out as we did going in. Wind really held them. Next morning everything was covered. Wind blowing so hard the snow was as deep on the vertical surface of the stop signs as it was on the ground. Shocked Being a southerner, I was MISERABLE and ended up heading south. Seems I should have stuck around! Mad

moose2, it was minus thirty something F here at that time and let me tell ya I was staying pretty close to the fire that week. My buddy and I managed to get out for a day of coyote hunting/calling on the 18th but had no luck. Temps where around 25 F and it seemed every place we went the yotes where pretty shy. There is a $20.00 bounty on them here as of this past fall and I think it brought out all the idiots from the towns/cities blasting at anything that moves. Next time my buddy and I go out we'll hunt some remote areas instead.
Pheasant and Prairie chicken is still open here till the end of the month, maybe I'll make it out for some bird hunting yet this year.

Hey 1895, I' really glad that it warmed up once it your weather crossed into the US. Your -30 is even way to cold for me. Luckily we didn't have any wind the day we went out. We did go out again today after pheasants and had a great hunt. It was snowing and blowing but was 20 above so was very pleasant. Had a good shoot. By the way, did pick up a new Winchester, but its a 1885. Very Happy
