Practice in the off season

How do you folks hone your shooting skills in the off season? I try to get to the range every weekend. Mostly I run a box of ammo through a .22 rifle at 50 yards. Weather permitting, I move over to the 100-yard range and bang away with a deer or military rifle or a muzzleloader. Just the idle thoughts of an idle fellow. All the best...

Jack Rabbit hunting is pretty fun here locally and as they are concidered varmints there is no season. I also like plinking with .22's but personally... once the season is over my mindset turns to fishing and other things until early summer.

The place near me I used to go shooting (4 minute drive) just got developed so now I'm going to have to search for a new area to shoot in.

I just got a newsletter from my shooting club that sez the rifle range is closed pending an investigation of a stray round that landed on adjacent property. So, I sit and wait to see how the club powers that be determine if it came from our range or the next door hunting club or elsewhere. Rolling Eyes

So, my skills will be dropping while they try to figure that one out. I won't hold my breath but I will be looking for a new place to shoot till they figure it out.
I guess I will have to set up a 100 yd range at the hunting club. I have 7 rifles to zero after adding new and swapping scopes around on these rifles.

Our shooting is all but over until about April. I drove to the range the other day, and the 100 yard boards are completely covered by snow. You can't even get to them unless you've got snow shoes or cross country skis. This is the time for me to order in all my reloading components and work on a rifle project or two, either that or grow stir crazy. Cabin fever season can be a long one sometimes. Best wishes.

What is an "Off Season"? Hell I shoot year round at something.
A terrible day of shooting is better than my best day at work.
