Kinda curious about the stock...

Is it possible to post some photos of the stocks “support” system the next time you have it apart?

I’ve been researching replacement stocks for both a Remington short action 700 BDL and a Savage 11

I’ve been researching replacement stocks for both a Remington short action 700 BDL and a Savage 11

Here: Pillar-bed left, block-bed right.

Not as rigid as a BC, Boyds or any of those glass/nylon jobs, nothing is, not even wood.

But I don't shoot from a level bench, don't need a truly rigid stock. I shoot off crazy irregular surfaces (truck tailgates are one of those....) I don't mind a little "give" in case I have to cant it a bit after my set. That tube is so stout your REALLY gona have to bear down on it to get it to deflect. If I had a truly rigid stock, I'd have to get a cant/pan bi-pod. No two ways about it. This one is stiff enough and allows some wiggle room in case I gota cheat the angle a little.

I also recommend the B&C Medallion and Boyds varmint tactical semi-vert grip stocks. Those are rigid. Big time. Very popular with the 700 Rem boys. Great tactical/bench/varmint stocks.

This would be a hunting application, so I’m confident that the block bed would work. I gotta find something shorter than standard LOP for the wife. She can get by with 13.5”, but 13 is probably better.

Hogue, HS possibly for a custom, or...? for a LOP that short.

Mossberg and Howa make short LOP rifles already stocked (or used to....).

I may have found a solution.

Savage introduced their revamped 110 line at this years SHOT show. New for this year is their Accufit stock which allows you to adjust both LOP and comb height. So I can “custom fit” it to her with pieces included in the box. Another plus, she wont be limited to the short barrels everyone wants to use on their “youth” size models.

I haven’t found a lot of “Real People” reviews yet. Most of what I can find are the gun writers regurgitating whatever Savage has fed to them. They have just started showing up in stores around here.
