Spent this weekend at the Clay Shooting Club to which I belong. Shot a 25 target round but stopped when the site of my radio therapy started to get a little tender...but that is not the reason for this post.

This morning I fronted up back out there for our monthly competition day (I assist in the office with scoring etc) and lo and behold but what should be all over the range...check it out below.

The buggers were out there quietly munching away on the nice succulent green grass for maybe two hours after we started shooting. They knew they were safe. Even had a couple of mommas and their joey just laying on the grass between two of the trap layouts basically watching the "goings on" but otherwise ignoring us. Cheeky buggers.

Cheers, Vince

Glad to see that the rain stop for a while Vince Razz
Them roos must have been deaf for living near to a gun range.

Its good to hear that you are back in action again.
25 shells is definitely better than none.

Thanks guys...25 shells seems to be the max at the moment before things start to get uncomfortable...but everything is improving.

'Roo on toast...nah...but 'roo steak or a 'roo kebab or Kangaroo Tail Soup is mighty nice. Kangaroo has a rather distinctive flavour, and not one that everybody enjoys...but I don't mind it at all.

These 'roos know they are safe...it is illegal to shoot wildlife on the range, and this is actually on the edge of an industrial area, which in turn is on the edge of the residential area. I am surprised that we are even allowed to have a shotgun range there because of the close proximity of the houses.

Cheers, Vince

Crossbows or regular archery bows are awfully quiet.... Just saying.

Agreed! And, how distracting is shooting at clay birds when dinner is having lunch in your sight's.

Very Happy Nice Vince, in 2010 we had a white tail doe raise 2 fawns in some pines at about the same distance on our no 2 range at GVC&B in Michigan.
Sorry no pics. cu Hobo

Welcome aboard Hobo...grab a beer and pull up a stump mate.

When I was in the Army, we regularly found kangaroos living, feeding and raising their young on our rifle ranges. They knew they were safe and also when to move off to the side of the range.

On our Clay Target range, the 'roos are completely safe...#7.5 shoot at 40 yards is nothing more than a minor hindrance to them as it falls around them.

Not into waterfowl anymore just some upland birds, the wild pheasant and quail are almost extinct in Michigan so we hunt preserves. Posted some pics in my album named Hobo.
Buddy will be 2 yrs March 23/13 he is not perfect in any respect but we sure like him. He's Brittnay AKC and is doing things on his own, he has never been hunted with another dog or had official training. Holds point and lets me flush. We've been working on retrieve and release. He is a great companion.

To Vince, it's a great pic, looks like you shot was going over by the leaves in the trees it is the same for us at the GVC&B range. The doe and fawn would come out , feed, and look at us while we were pounding away at clays with muzzle loading shotguns and they really boom. The squirrel pic posted in the Hobo album look at the tree line in the back ground. HA HA

Vince,
Speaking of Roos. Do you all make soup out of them? Here a while back
i made some ox tail soup and was thinking that the roo tail would make really good soup. I did do a search to see if I could find some roo tail in Texas but did not find any. I think it is not exported for some reason.
