Hi Dallan...I am trying to input data into PB Ver 2 and find that the target when opened comes up with the following dimensions:

As you can imagine, this makes it particularly difficult to accurately place shots on the target. Is there a setting to resize the target image to reflect a round target, allowing for accurate shot placement? I have been through the Help facility on PB, but cannot see anything that refers to this problem.

Thanks mate...

This is the actual target followed by the PB Target with shots placed according to the X and Y coordinates. The PB target doesn't really reflect the actual target. Discount the shot at around 10 o'clock outside the 9 ring...that was my first shot from a clean, cold barrel. The shot you can see on the far right edge is another group using my .22 rimfire.

Strangely, doing a print preview does in fact show the target correctly, with the shots in the correct position visually.

You can click and drag the left side of the target panel to make it round. It just makes the left side of the screen wider.

Yea dont run it full screen, it warps the target. It was easier to implement it this way ... and there haven't been many complaints until now (not saying you are complaining lol).

If its a issue I can force an aspect ratio on it regardless of the window size.

if you do want to run it full size, drag that center divider further to the right and it will shrink the target pane making the target appear square.

Thanks mate...yep...dragging the divider works a treat...nice round target.

Apologies for whinging about such a minor thing Dallan...I think I had a brain fart or something and didn't think of dragging the divider. Bang Head Bonk Bonk Nuts Laughing

That's an interesting diagonal string btw. Maddening to figure out the cause of (in my experience).

There are actually two different bullets in the group, same load though...Remington 80gr PSP and Hornady 87gr HP BT. This was the first outing for the 87gr Hornadys, so I was not so much concerned with grouping, more a case of POI and checking velocity...load development comes next. My chrono was playing up so I was more concerned about that than noting the order of shots, but i think there are actually two "groups" that are close together. The 80gr PSP usually group around .75" at 100m, so that sounds about right. It wasn't the best day either, showers and gusty winds...then of course there is the "nut behind the butt". As this is my hunting rifle that i use primarily on bigger game, I am content with a grouping that will give me "minute of deer", but I will continue to try to improve the grouping capability of the load just because it is enjoyable.

I have not been able to find a supply of the Rem bullets out here, Remington simply aren't sending any, so it looks like I have to change bullets and redo my load development.

Have had that problem 3 times and solved it 2 over the years. Both corrections - inletting the offending section of stock. The problem turned out to be a free-floating barrel that had contact with the stock in one small area.

Remember that when a rifle is fired, the barrel whips around. When inletting clearances are close, they must be equal all around. Otherwise, as the barrel heats up, the response of the barrel (its shape when the bullet exits) will not remain consistent. Group centers will drift as in your target.
