Yea Yea Yea, I'm a little touchy this year as it is the first year the ducks geese and deer all kicked my butt. I'm heading up north Saturday to go spearing and see it I can at least stick a couple pike for the smoker. Then Sunday I'll strap on the snowshoes and see if I can kill a couple tree rats. As long as I'm out there if I find any sign I'll give my coyote call a try. Now all I gotta do is find a way to make myself get out of the warm bed on the cold mornings.

Living in Minnesota in the Winter and still willing to head North? My hat's off to you. You are a sportsman!

Take some coffee next time...I hear it increases your chances of success.

"...but I spent a week hunting and never saw a single deer..."
I wonder how that picture applies to all those stories I have heard. I have never hunted and gone more than a day without seeing something that resembled a deer... I haven't always taken the shot but then I have a different philosophy than some.

I think I'm addicted to Handi rifles. I don't have all the bugs worked out on my .500 S&W Handi yet and just ordered another. It should be here by the weekend. This time I went to the other end of the centerfire spectrum and ordered a Superlight Handi in .223. It weighs a mere 5 1/3 lbs. something I appreciate more every year. It comes with open sights, but I'm also going to add a 2-7X32 Simmons Pro-hunter scope(9.8 ozs.). The whole package should come in at under 6 lbs. I don't expect to be shooting tiny little groups with this rifle, but even if I can get 1.5-2" it should be just what I need. I'm hoping to use it for coyote up in the mountains.
