I have been using a Redfield 3X9X40 compact on my Browning A-bolt .30-06 sense 1990. Absolutely flawless...

Hi Stan, I have a 35 year old leupold on my 308 browning lever action. It is a 2x7x30 gold ring. It is a great scope but dollar value I think that I would now change to the Bushnell 3200 or 4200 elite as it is cheaper.
The last 3 scopes I have bought are the bushnell and they are a good bang for your dollar.

I bought my first Bushnell Elite about 5 years ago, and now have them on every rifle I shoot. The optical quality is excellent, and they are very reasonably priced. The RainGuard is a "must have" feature here in western Canada as you simply cannot fog them up in winter. Probably not a factor down under, but a serious consideration here when it is subzero, you inadvertently breath on the scope and the trophy buck melts away before the lens clears.

Gidday Lone Wolf. You would probably be surprised to hear that we have our share of cold, sleet, snow and ice down under. I live in a sub-tropical area, but where I hunt drops to below zero in Winter....and thats only a 3 hour drive from home. Coldest weather I have hunted, and experienced, over here was -10 C...not really cold by your standards but enough to bring a tear to the eye of any brass monkey. Very Happy Laughing

Australia has massive snowfields, albeit only during Winter, but the capitol of our southern most State (Hobart, Tasmania) has been known to have snow on Christmas Day...in the height of Summer.

Cheers, Vince

Gidday Vint2. Have a look at this mate. You can usually find a number of sellers on eBay that carry the Blackhawk range of products as well.

Blackhawk Ammo Pouch/Cheek Pad

My mate has one of these in cacky (left) hand for his shotgun and it is a well made piece of kit.

Cheers, Vince

I recently bought a Bushnell Elite 4200, 1.5 to 6X with the "Firefly" reticle, to use on an AR-15. The low setting makes it usefull for up close, fast shooting and the high power should work on stuff farther out. The "Firefly" lights up without batteries, you "charge" it by shining a light into the eyepiece of the scope. I've only done a little shooting with this one so far but I have similar Bushnells on other guns and like them.

Another scope I like is the Burris with the "Ballistic Plex" reticle. For a .308 you'd zero at 100 yards and have cross marks for 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards.
