I was looking for .35 Remington brass to do a little reloading. After looking online it seems hard to find and expensive. I thought I had some .35 Remington brass somewhere in my stash. After a bit of looking I found five boxes of once-fired brass tucked away in a cabinet. I bought it years ago for $2.00 a box from a local gun shop. Those were the days. All the best...

Well done Gil.

Our SWMBO call what we have rubbish or crap and corruption, but in reality us guys have, STUFF. We hoard and store things knowing full well that the day will come when we will be looking for an item that we know we stored in a safe place many years previous.

Also, if something gets thrown out, you will go looking for it within a month...I know because I've been there a few times.

I try hard not to save items and keep a stash of goodies. But then I find something I can use that has been sitting there for 10-15 years and it re-enforces the habit of keeping a stash.

I have "inventory". That is stuff that has been used in the past and is likely to be used in the future.
My wife and minimalist brother call it "garbage".
When my brothers starter solenoid went out I pulled one out of my "inventory" and he didn't have to walk to the auto parts store to buy one. When my wifes alternator went out I pulled one from my inventory and she was back on the road. I have a lot of inventory and some junk. But I used some of that junk to make the dies for my 22 centerfire long rifle cases. I have two forming dies and a final "full length sizing die". I have a decapper and a priming die and of course the tools I use to put the cases in the lathe to turn down the case heads and primer webbing. I also have about 60 "junk" 25 ACP cases to turn into 22 CFLR cartridges. I am using some of my junk to make the adjustable powder measure for the 22 CFLR and I will use more junk still to make the crimper for crimping the bullets in place.
So I do have some junk but I have a lot more inventory than junk and I will turn some junk into inventory. The guy up the road has some inventory too. We sometimes trade inventory or give some of our inventory to the other when they need it. Having junk and inventory is an important part of being a man (a MANLY MAN) because it makes taking care of those you love easier. Nobody has ever asked to borrow my wifes garden gnome or the ferries in the garden or any one of the millions of wind chimes. Is her stuff inventory or junk? As long as it keeps her happy I will call it stuff.
What I don't understand is when she gets rid of something and then replaces it with an identical piece... new junk must be better than old junk.

I just threw out a mortise lock set along with a door I just replaced. So what happens? Within a month, the mortise lock in my mom's door broke, and had to be replaced. $150 down the drain. Guess, it's written in the scriptures, don't throw out anything that you might need.

One of my friend’s wife figured that he had too much junk and did a clean-up by disposing of most of it.
He waited for her to go in the shower and while she was shampooing her hair he collected all of her clothes and stashed them in the garage.
When she came out of the shower she could not find anything to wear. He told her that he had made a clean-up of her old clothes.
After a while of savoring the situation he told her that her clothes were in the garage.
She learned something from that experience and she has not touched any of his junk since.

I like it when I find stuff that I do not remember how, when or where I got it. All the best...
