Well, the summer temperatures have finally reached the greater Walla Walla Valley! We have gotten the first three of 8 days in triple digit temps with the highest at 108F.
It feels good from inside the air conditioned house but it serves to remind me why I need heat and air conditioning in the shop. with all the insulation it stays "cool" in the shop when the temps are in the low to high 80s but the shop doesn't get a chance to cool off when the temps go between 75 to 100+F.

I am not getting much done in there this week but last week I got three benches made. One for my lathe, one for the drill press and one for the arbor press. Haven't made the drawers for them but they have equipment in place and usable.

Hmmm, it is hard to get much further North in the Continental US. Your temps are higher than our have been. We have had two days of 100 deg F so fare this year. Isn't the Norther supposed to get to you. We are in the 80Fs for the rest of the week. Stay cool my friend.

Cool off Paulie, have a cold one and take some pix of your shop to show us. Was supposed to get to 100 here but 92 was the top. Good enough for me. I got hot at work and turned the thermostat to 73 then some idiot got too cold and turned it to 80, may as well have turned the AC off. It got sweaty, I got mad, ripped her shirt off, tore off her bra and kicked her in the shins. She cried like a little kid so I kicked her some more. She was really nice to me today and we enjoyed 74 degrees as a compromise. Sometimes you just have to assert yourself a little to smooth things over. In celebration of a great victory I've invented no pants day as long as the weather remains at least in the 80s. That should take some pressure off the AC and also boost attendance. Of course we have some bible thumpers and we have some (with a squeaky voice) "Oh no, I'm scared" people but I bet they'll surrender when they find out I'm including some well behaved rock climbers to baby oil their seats.....If I only had a pirate voice, this would be so funny.....So stay tuned for the video, it'll be on facebook, just dial in the boss's name and yer golden.

Let's see... I am supposed to stay cool while watching a video of you ripping the clothes off another woman and kicking the stuffing out of her... That is not going to happen! After all I am just a man!

There isn't much to take pictures of Suz, The place is a great big storage closet for all the tools and "stuff" that I have to go through to find out if I need to find a place for it or a trash can to fit it in. I could take pictures of the benches and then the wall of boxes... OH! and the wallboard lift I bought.

I've seen a wall board lift before, ho hum, hows about the benches, interested to see how you did them. I need a new one in my shop. I placed a pair of vises on mine a long time ago and regretted my placement after the fact. Need some ideas.

58 F, or for you Celsius fans 14.4 is my temperature, but then I am a slightly pudgy sexually frustrated man who does not tolerate heat well. And, so you might ask why the hell did I move from Michigan to South Carolina, well God blessed me with a wife. For the last month we've been in the nineties with humidity to match, but no rain. Last night we got about two inches of rain, unfortunately most was run off cause the ground was too dry to absorb it, good for the creeks not so much for the trees, and bushes I've planted for the wildlife, but God provided before I was here and he will long after I'm gone, I just like seeing the deer eat my crab apples, and I had no idea turkey liked blueberries so much, I'll have to plant many more so I can get a few. Just rambling have a great day.

I will see if I can borrow the wife's camera and get a few pics of the three benches that I have built - sans drawers. Each one is for a specific tool and they are built just to accommodate that tool and drawers for the extras that go with the tooling. The lathe bench is half of what the work bench (an eight foot bench) will be. It is just four feet long with six drawers (to be added later) for gears and tooling.

You have a metal lathe? I could have used one...

I've always been envious of others that can work with wood and stuff. Craftsmanship like that is awesome. If I tried to make something from wood I'd ruin same and probably come up missing at least a finger! I should have been making assigned projects in wood shop- not skateboards all the time!

Stovie,
I am not a wood smith by any definition!
My benches prove that but they also show that I know how to build things strong!

Suz,
I do have a lathe, and right now it is sitting in cart in pieces as I swap motors and clean the rust off it from sitting in a less than dry storage for a year.

Well I got a picture of the benches to share. Please remember that these are shop benches and not fine furniture.
