I used to live in Tucson Arizona, you can buy a gun and take it home the same day. Wonder why he didn't take the gun? Was gonna come back later when the press wasn't looking? One of the comments below the article said "I saw a hooker on the street, bought that too, to get her off the street", makes as much sense.

I think that they are cashing in on a tragic event.
Granted, she had a great recovery, but many were killed, because they came to see her.
Pretty pathetic.

Are we supposed to be surprised that a Navy pilot / NASA astronaut could pass a background check? His explanation doesn't even make sense. Of course the "antis" think we're all idiots anyway and won't notice their BS.

Actually after the whole incident with Lisa Nowak, and now this, better psychological evaluations might be needed.

He stated that he bought it to give it to the local police....
They can't accept a privately owned firearm - it would have to be destroyed.
If he donated it to a policeman then he and the policeman would be guilty of a straw purchase - a felony - and they would both go to jail.
Let's see how well the system works........
