Follow up story said that the police chief has banned his officers from going there. Maybe a few hundred citizens should do the same.

. This is not in support of the anti gun zones , being as I don't do business if they have guns are barred signs.
. Denny's has the right under private property rights to ask them to leave ,the cops are not a privileged class , not even in the top 10 (ten) most dangerous jobs in the USA ,
. I've seen a few cops over the years just get up and leave without paying or not even leaving a tip. Have the feeling they may have got enough of the mooching and arrogance of these two officers.

Got a similar story !!!
Local gun shop had a off duty officer stop in on his way home to purchase a new duty weapon. Upon entering the owner questioned the officer as to why he wasn't in full uniform. The officer replied that he had just gotten off duty and he was there to inquire on the purchase of a new duty weapon. The owner then questioned him as to why he still had his duty weapon on him if he was off duty. Before he could answer he was told to go back to his car and disarm if he wanted to do business.
Needless to say the officer went back to his car alright...... then drove down the road to another gun shop !!!
As you could imagine news travels fast amongst the law enforcement and gun communities.
A year and a half later a new owner took over the business...... it is once again a thriving gun shop !!!

You know, why don't they get upset when we are treated the same way?
Do they THINK they are special?
Ok, I have the utmost respect for anyone who serves in the police or fire department. They put their lives on the line every day. That doesn't mean that they have rights that we don't.

Paul,
I was thinking the same thing.
Not too long ago we had a situation here in PA. in which there was a group of people sitting having breakfast in a diner while open carrying handguns. They were perfectly legal to do so, there is no law in PA. restricting open carry, and the manager of the diner had no problem with it. Another patron called the police and reported men with guns in the diner so the police responded as they should, but after checking with and talking to the men carrying, they actually tried to provoke the manager into asking them to leave. In this case the manager refused.
I don't open carry, I'd rather keep my handgun as a surprise, but that's not to say these guys didn't have the right to do so. The police in this case should have respected that right, as they would their own right.

My thoughts exactly.
Why should citizens be left defenceless - as they are in Chicago - if the police see being armed as essential?
I'd far rather see a "firearms welcome" sign like the one I saw at a restaurant in Albuquerque than see anyone disarmed though - police or not.

It is a lot like the first amendment folks who fight hard for the that right but jump on the band wagon to limit the evil guns from our society and think the airport searches are just fine because they feel safer on the airplane. The fourth amendment folks who shout about their right to be free from unreasonable search yet don't worry themselves over the first or second amendment losses. I am concerned about all our rights - why? Because if we can losee any one, we can lose them all.

People seem to forget that the Bill of Rights is a limit on government powers, not on the people. The government can't suppress free speech but that doesn't mean that someone won't face repercussions from other citizens when they say something stupid.
Paul is right, all rights must be equally protected.
