It appears Great Grandpa was a hard working farmer who was known to be a quiet and somber sort of man. Rarely spoke and when he did he ment what he said and was not to be questioned. Having been raised poor he was very frugal and not given to spending money foolishly. In the Early 1930s it seems the family was able to talk Great Grandpa into going to town to see his first ever movie. "Talkies" had just recently come about and they took him to see a classic western with Tom Mix as the cowboy hero . All through the movie Grandpa was said to be setting there watching and not showing any signs of being impressed in the least. Near the very end of the movie came the classic scene where the hero chased the bad guy out into the desert and up into the rocks where the shootout started. As movies go they were trying to manuver around in the rocks to get a bead on one another when the bad guy slowly raised up from above and behind our hero and it was said Grandpa Jumped straight up out of his seat and hollered " LOOK OUT !!! THE S.O.B. IS BEHIND YA !!! " Needless to say the whole theatre burst into laughter and Grandpa was allowed to watch the rest of the movie . There was no mention of the incident on the ride home ,,,
