The great thing about the OAL gauge & bullet comparator is it allows you to experiment with seating depths & note inconsistencies in bullets in a recordable manner, thus allowing easy replication of whatever is proven to work.
Apart from VLD's, Hornady SST's cannot be seated close to the lands because they too have a long distance from meplat to the point where the bullet engages the rifling.
I'll admit to preferring Sierra Gameking & Matchking for seating depth experiments, plus they're cheap, accurate & effective.

Any time someone gives you hard information about how to obtain "best accuracy" cross him off your list of best sources.
