Wow, buckshot on the mega-scale! Ability to control collateral damage is limited.

Im sure the lads at your game department will have a field day with this plonker. now shooting cats with a mortar on private land sounds good, Ive often thought it would be handy to have one when trying to flush wallabies out of thick scrub. I bet this guy takes the cannon out and fills it with #4 shot and peppers the pond over the back too. poor ol ducks dont stand a chance.

Yes, bigger than the old punt guns that used to clear the pond of 30 ducks at a time.

You mean 300 ducks at a time don't you Jim?

Well itd Rolling Eyes it certainly wasn't one duck at a time with a full choke 12 gauge, try maybe a weapon like this ... check it out

Interesting! I saw a program on market hunting that said they used 3-4" guns in battery to kill entire flocks of waterfowl at night on the water. They were said to have sent the boat back some 20-30 yards and have capsized boats also upon discharge.

That's certainly not hunting...that's just killing...and badly. And he has the stones to call himself a hunter?

There is a very good description of punt guns and their use in James Michener's book "Chesapeake". Capsized boats, end-planking removal and burst barrels all were common!
